Empowering Rural Women and Implementing One Health in Jordan.
February 12, 2026
The Innovation, Work and Production Association celebrated the graduation of 32 women sheep and goat breeders from Ajloun, Jerash, and Mafraq after an intensive six-month training program, under the patronage of H.E. Prof. Mahmoud Al-Duwairi, former Minister of Agriculture, and Louis Martin Aumais, in the presence of the Canadian Ambassador.
The program focused on the One Health approach, linking human, animal, and environmental health through herd management and the prevention of zoonotic diseases such as brucellosis, rabies, anthrax, and hemorrhagic fevers, as well as the early detection of foodborne and animal diseases. The women breeders are considered the first line of defense in identifying early symptoms.
The training also covered food safety, milk and dairy hygiene, pasteurization methods, and improved daily farm practices to enhance public health and productivity.
Project Director Prof. Nabil Hailat emphasized that the initiative is based on the principle:
“Think globally, act locally,” noting that investing in knowledge and sound practices is the key to prevention and sustainable production.
🌱 Together toward a more aware society… more productive agriculture… and a more integrated One Health approach.
